Richard held various positions with International Minerals and Chemicals Corp., retiring in 1989 as vice president and general manager of the Industrial Chemical Division. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor's degree in agriculture. In 1979, he was recognized as an Outstanding Alumnus of the University of Florida. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane (Waters) Hunt of Dade City; two daughters, Mary Ellen Hunt Vian of Atlanta and Shirley Lynn Hunt Rickner of Tallahassee; two sons, Jess Daryl Hunt of Dade City and Robert Burnside Hunt of Gainesville; two sisters, Carol Hunt Cooper of Tampa and Barbara Hunt of Silver City, New Mexico; and eight grandchildren.

Mary-Jane Hunt, 79, of Dade City, Fla., passed away Monday, August 29, 2011. Survivors are her four children, Mary-Ellen Vian, Shirley Rickner, Daryl Hunt and Robert Hunt, their spouses and eight grand-children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Burnside Hunt, in 2000. Visitation will take place 5-7 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2011, at Hodges Family Funeral Home, Highway 301 in Dade City. A family graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Townsend House Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pioneer Florida Museum of Dade City.
