THE PARIS NEWS, Thursday, June 20, 1940.
Mrs. Lula N. Thompson of Petty, Rt. 1, widow of George T. Thompson, died at 12 o'clock noon Thursday at the Sanitarium of Paris. She was 70 years old. Funeral service was set for 3 p.m. Friday at Forest Hill Church conducted by the Rev. J. D. Thomas of Garrett Memorial Methodist Church and the Rev. Raymond Smoot of Immanuel Baptist Church, with burial at Forest Hill Cemetery by Brown-Roden Funeral Home. Howard Colley, John Henry Thompson, Clyde and Hulen Butler, George and J. H. Gordon were named pallbearers. Mrs. Thompson, who was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Easterling, had lived in Forest Hill community about 30 years.

She leaves eight children, Mrs. Minnie Colley here; Mrs. Carrie Butler, Soper, Okla.; Mrs. Bud Gordon and Mrs. Emma Adams of Honey Grove; Mrs. Troy Dobbs of Chicago; Scott Thompson of Petty and Dewey Thompson of Binger, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. Sallie Smith of Dallas; a half-sister, Mrs. Margaret Sheppard of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and two half-brothers, H. J. Scott of Carrollton, Ala., and W. G. Scott of Binger, Okla.; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
