About Jean Francis Jones:

FAIRHOPE, AL LEVERT Jean Francis Jones LeVert died peacefully at her home on August 9, 2009 attended by her daughter and sons. She was 86. Cancer ended her life. She is survived by her children Edward, Winn, and Eugene, by four grandchildren, and by eight nieces and nephews. Born in 1922, she grew up on her grandfather's farm in Orange Beach, Alabama, attended Foley High School, graduated from Auburn University, and completed a post-graduate curriculum in social work at Tulane University. She was employed by Mobile's Department of Social Work prior to her marriage to Darwin Eiland LeVert of Marion, Alabama. In Marion, she devoted herself to her family, the Methodist Church, and to Marion Institute, and Judson College, where she was secretary to these schools' deans. Shortly after her husband's death in 1991, she retired to Fairhope, Alabama, where she was a member of Fairhope Methodist Church. She embodied the virtues of Christian humility and gentlest love. She will lie beside her husband in the antebellum cemetery at Saint Wilfrid's Episcopal Church in Marion. A graveside memorial service will be held there on August 15 at 2 P.M.
