"RHODES, Sarah Kate, 91, of Tampa, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2007, in Tampa. She was born October 26, 1915 in Quitman, Ga., to Horace A. and Lucretia (Taylor) Simms. She moved to Dade City, Fla., when she was 8 years old from Oxford, Fla. She lived in Dade City until late 2006, when she moved to the Adams House of Tampa. Mrs. Rhodes was a graduate of Florida Southern College and received her master' s degree from the University of South Florida. She was a fourth grade teacher and retired in 1979 after 22 years of teaching. Mrs. Rhodes was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dade City, Fla., where she served as Sunday school teacher, director of Sunday school, Training Union, and the Women's Missionary Union, and was a member of the senior adult choir. She is survived by a son, Arthur S. Burnside of Aiken, S.C.; two daughters, Beth Ficquette of St. Petersburg and Annie Laurie Baldwin of Dade City, Fla.; five grandchildren, Sharon Tyler of Rockville, Md., Gregory S. Burnside of Bethesda, Md., Bill Baldwin of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Tim and Paul Baldwin, both of Dade City; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Frances King of Lake City, Fla., and Horacetine Vann of Decatur, Ga.; numerous nieces and nephews; and her friend, Erik Moller of Dade City, Fla.. Funeral services will take place at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Dade City, Fla., with the Rev. Steve Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Dade City Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1:30-2:30 p.m., prior to the service, at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Girls Services, in care of The Centre for Women, 305 S. Hyde Park Ave., Tampa, FL 33606, or to USF Suncoast Gerontology Center, 10770 N. 46th St., A1200, Tampa, FL 33617."
