About Emmitt David Eiland:

Eiland, Emmett David of Channelview. Age 73. Died 10/16/1984 (Tuesday) in M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston after a long illness. Services held 10/18 (Thursday) at the First Christian Church. Burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Rev. Mike Worrel and Rev. Troy Smith officiated. He was born on 3/28/1911 in the Gay Hill Comm., son of Ed Eugene & Mary Elizabeth Worley Eiland. Married Margie O. Whiteley in Rockdale on 9/22/1935. He worked in Rockdale area with McAlester Fuel Co. until 1945 when he moved to Channelview where he was employed as a steelworker with Armco Steel Corp. until his retirement. Member of Masonic Lodge 1304 in Channelview and member of Channelview Church of the Nazarene. Preceded in death by an infant son, James W. Eiland and 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors: Wife Margie Eiland of Channelview; son, Gerald Eiland of Channelview; adopted son, Stephen Ozvoldike of Laredo; 3 daughters, Eva Bowdoin of Channelview, Barbara Dodson of Channelview; 2 brothers, Luther Eiland of Baytown and Guinn Eiland of Rockdale; 3 sisters, Fannie Clark of Leesville, La., Naomi Gables of Liberal, Ks. and Helen Newman of Balko, Ok; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.

CHANNELVIEW - Services for Margie O. Eiland, 88, of Channelview are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Eiland died Wednesday at Odyssey House in The Woodlands. She had been a cafeteria supervisor for the Channelview Independent School District for 20 years.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Evelyn Eiland of Hearne; three daughters and sons-in-law, Eva and J.L. Bowdoin of Channelview, Barbara and David Dodson of Huffman and Patricia and Donald Bass of The Woodlands; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Ozvoldike and Francisca of Tuckerton, N.J.; two sisters, Maudell Eiland of Humble and Bonnie Stuermer of Humble; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
