About Shirley Irene Eiland:
Shirley Eiland Brogden, 86, passed away at her residence in Tuscaloosa on October 24, 2002, after a
brief illness.
She was a native of Andalusia, but had made Tuscaloosa her home for the last 37
years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, S. T. Brogden, and her son, Farrell Brogden.
She
is survived by two sons, Robert Brogden (Gaynell) and Harold Brogden (Doreen), both of Tuscaloosa, and
three daughters, Linda B. Palmer (Carl), of Huntsville, Lenorah B. Gibbons and Jean B. Buchanan, both
of Tuscaloosa; a sister Opal E. Russell (Teasley) of Andalusia; fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services were conducted in Tuscaloosa, on
October 26. In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations in her memory to the church or charity
of one?s choice.
About Farrell Brogden:
Farrell Brogden, 58, of 2119 Loop Road, died May 13, 1995, at home. Services were to be at 4 p.m. today
at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Headley was to officiate with burial in Memory HIll Gardens.
Mr.
Brogden was a memeber of the Faternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 4232. He was preceded in death by his
wife, Sybil S Brogden and his father, Sellers T. Brogden.
Survivors included a stepson, Bruce
Hollingsworth; four step-daughters, Vivan Walker, Wanda Wilson, Kay Cook and Debra Pilkington; his
mother, Shirley Eiland Brogden; three sisters, Lenorah Gibbons and Jean Buchanan, both of Tuscaloosa,
and Linda Palmer, of Huntsville; two brothers, Robert E. Brogden and Harold Brogden, both of Tuscaloosa;
several grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Pall bearers will be nephews and Bonnie Lowe.
