About Herbert Hall Eiland:
Herbert Hall Eiland, 81, of Charlotte, N.C. died Nov. 12, 2004 at Presby-terian Hospital. He was born
in Montgomery, on Nov. 26, 1922, to Oscar Joseph and Lela Huett Eiland. He lived in Montgomery until
he joined the Marine Corps in 1941. He served in Pearl Harbor during World War II. He moved to Charlotte
in 1955. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Charlotte. He was in Rod Alexander?s Men?s Sunday
School Class. He was on the Montgomery, Alabama Police Force and was also a State Trooper in Alabama
for many years. He was a member of the Shrine.
Survivors include his wife Jereline Clark Eiland,
of Charlotte, formerly of Grove Hill; one stepdaughter, Judy C. Dixon; one stepson, Terry James; seven
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister-in-law; and six nieces.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his identical twin brother, Hubert Stanley
Eiland, two brothers Rudolph Eiland and Oscar J. Eiland Jr.; and one sister Ruby E. Mims. A memorial
service was held Sunday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Service-Charlotte Chapel with Rev. Joe
Burnette officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, Nov. 16. McEwen Funeral Service,
Charlotte Chapel, directed.
