Born 3/29/1882 on a tobacco
plantation near Mayfield, Ky (Grandpa's). Parents moved to Ark- Sept. 1892. Grew up on a ranch (Dad's
160 acres).Raised grain, cotton, horses, hogs, cows, regular farming. Mother died July, 1888; Father
remarried Sept. 1889. Both mothers had a desire for me to be a teacher- so I was. Taught myschool at
"Piney" 1. Grove- 1901-2 2. Hatton- 1902-3 3. Piney 1903-4 4. Cove 1904-6 5. Rockey 1906-7 6.
