About Ruth Martha Sides:
Talley, Mrs. Ruth (Jim) of Austin. Age 85. Died 7/1974 (Thursday) in an Austin hospital after being
in failing health for several weeks. Services held (Sat) in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel. Burial
in IOOF Cemetery, Rockdale. Rev D. D. Simpson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiated. She was
born 11/14/1888 at Thorndale to M/M Pinkney Sides. Married James T. Talley on 7/25/1909 in Thorndale.
Mr. Talley died in 1946 and 2 years later Mrs. Talley moved to Austin. Preceded in death by husband,
2 daughters, Mrs. Ouida Long in 1972 and Mrs. Jimmie Hoes in 1973. Survivors: 6 sons, Ray Earl and
Leonard Talley, All of Austin, Newburn Talley of Athens, Dale Talley of Houston and J. T. Talley of
Rockdale; 4 daughters, Mrs. Johnnie Anderson of Austin, Mrs. Orvis Gee of LaPorte, Mrs. Roy King of
Houston and Mrs. Roy Alford of Rockdale; 2 brothers, Leonard Sides of Marble Falls and Archie Sides
of Thorndale; 29 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
