About Dale Floyd Talley:
Graveside services with Masonic Rites for Dale F. Talley, 76 were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2003
at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale with Rev. Calvin Springer officiating. He died Friday, Oct. 31,
2003 in Rockdale.
Mr. Talley, a Rockdale resident the past 21 years, moving back to Rockdale
from Houston after his retirement, was born May 9, 1927 in Water Lou to the late James Thomas and Ruth
Martha Sides Talley. He and Delphia Euteva Eiland were married Oct. 29, 1949 in Rockdale.
Mr.
Talley was a PBX installer for Southwestern Bell, working in Rockdale and Houston over 35 years, retiring
in Nov. of 1981. He was a member of the St. John?s United Methodist Church, Rockdale Lodge AF&AM 414,
Scottish Rite and Ben Hur Shriners and a very active member with Southwestern Bell Telephone Pioneers
of America.
Preceding him in death were his parents; great-granddaughter, Amanda LeAn Nevitt;
four brothers, Rondal Ray, Leonard, Earl and Newborn Talley; five sisters, Jimmie Hose, Quida Long,
Esta Anderson, Artie B. Gee and Wanda King. Surviving are: Wife, Euteva Talley of Rockdale; sons,
Gregory Carl Talley of Thrall, Terry Dale Talley of San Antonio, Gary Newton Talley of Bryan and Glenn
Wayne Talley of Rockdale; daughter, Donna Jean Nevitt of Houston; brother, J.T. Talley of Rockdale;
sister, Jean Alford of Rockdale; five grandchildren, Dairan Talley, Britt Talley, Samantah Nevitt, Matthew
Talley and Faith Talley; great-grandchild, Natalee Talley.
Pallbearers were Mark Allen Talley,
Carl Lee King, John Smith, Randy Miller, Steve Golightly and Johnny Nigliazzo. Honorary pallbearers
were Larry Rains, Dairan Talley, Matthew Talley and Dana Joe Talley. Memorials may be made to the American
Cancer Society.
About Delphia Euteva Eiland:
This narrative was written in 1983 for the Milam Co. book "Matchless Milam" Euteva Eiland Talley
was born July 4, 1931, this being Independence Day all the older children remember this day well. This
was always a family celebration with a picnic on the river.
She attended Gay Hill School for
the first eight years, never missing a day of school. She then attended Rockdale High School where
she graduated in 1948. After graduating she went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. In 1949
Dale Talley transferred from Austin to Rockdale where they met and were married on October 29, 1949.
The marriage ceremony was performed at the old farm place by Rev. M.E. Brown who had married one sister
and later married two more sisters.
Euteva and Dale worked in Rockdale until Jun 1950, when they
transferred to Houston. They lived there until they retired. In October 1982, they moved back to Rockdale,
purchasing an old homesite to remodel. Dale was born May 9, 1927 at Waterloo to Jim and Ruth Talley.
Euteva and Dale have five children, Donna Talley Nevitt, Greg, Terry, Gary, and Glenn, Also 4 grandchildren.
