About Emily Jane Caffey:
Notes for EMILY JANE CAFFEY from Deidre Rihtarchik : Her given name was Emily Jane Caffey, but she
was called "Emma." We believe my muffin pan, which pre-dates 1840, may have been hers. I have seen
her tombstone at the Cox-Carver cemetery, off of Harmony Church Road, and it states, "Emily Jane Dickson,
wife of J.F. Dickson" and has her birth date of April 28, 1827, and her death date of March 12, 1883.
There were three little tombstones, probably for children, but they were too worn to read. I did not
see J.F. Dickson's grave, and do not know why Emily was buried with the Cox, Maron, and Carver families.
This is not very far, as the crow flies, from Chapel Hill, where her daughter, Martha Lee Dickson Peacock,
is buried with her husband, Gordon Ewell Peacock. Her other son, William Lafayette "Faye" Dickson
and his wife, Anna Olivia Peacock (sister to Gordon Ewell Peacock) is also buried at Chapel Hill.
