Obituary...One of Laclede Co. real old-timers passed away on November 18, (1929) when C. H. Moore died in his home near Phillipsburg, at the age of 90 years, 3 months, and 10 days. Mr. Moore was born in Tennessee on August 8, 1839, and came to Laclede Co. when he was 2 years old. Here he lived the rest of his life, living over eighty-eight years on the farm where he died. The farm was homesteaded by his father when he came from Tennessee. Deceased was a Union soldier, serving 4 years in the Union Army. He was married in 1860 to Miss Elmira Caffey, who preceded him in death. To this union were born ten children, six of whom are deceased. The four surviving are: S. K. Moore, Jr., the oldest son, and Robert Moore of Phillipsburg; Mrs. Charles Krueger, of Chicago, and Mrs. Willard Allen of Conway. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday Afternoon, the 19th in Spring Grove Moravian Church, conducted by Rev. J. D. Chappelle, pastor of Lebanon Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Chappelle sang and Mr. Chappelle preached from a text taken from John, 14:1-4. Interment was in Lonesome Hill Cemetery. Mr. Moore had been a deacon in the Baptist Church for over thirty-two years. He was a faithful servant-faithful to his country and faithful to His Lord.

Obituary...Another of Laclede Co.'s pioneer women passed away May 28th, when Mrs. C.H. Moore died at her home near Phillipsburg, aged a little more than 83 years. Funeral services were held at the Spring Grove Church May 30th conducted by Rev. JW Jeffries. Burial was in the Lonesome Hill cemetery. Almira (should be Elmira) Caffey was born January 13, l840 in Meigs Co, Tennessee and came with her parents to this Co. when only a small child. She was married May, l859 to CH Moore who survives her. There are indeed very few couples who live to see the sixty-fifth anniversary of their wedding day as did Mr. and Mrs. Moore. Ten children were born to them, only four of whom are living, Samuel K., and Robert B. Moore, of Phillipsburg, Mrs. Willard Allen of Conway, and Mrs. Charles S. Krueger of Chicago, Illinois. She leaves 31 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. Three sisters also survive. In l897 she united with the Salem Baptist church and lived a faithful member until her death.
