Basic information on Nellie Soderstrom:
Nellie Margaret Soderstrom, on 30 Dec 1869, at Hampton, Rock Island Co, IL,
became the second wife of Michael Schmidt (earlier
Schmidt, later, Smith). Nellie Margaret was the daughter of Pehr/Peter Andersson
and Margreta (Rolin) Soderstrom, born in Sweden, about 1846. As an adult, she
was described as being 5 feet, 4 inches tall, of light complexion, with blue
eyes and black hair. She was of Lutheran faith. She could read English but could
not write it. They had nine children (reported under
Michael). Michael and Margaret's first two children were born in Moline,
Illinois. They then must have moved across the Mississippi River to Clinton
County sometime after this because their next five children were born in Clinton
County.
Nellie died on 18 Sep 1901 at Grand Island, NE, at the Nebraska's Soldier's
Hojme, at age 53, from blood poisoning. She is buried at the Nebraska Veteran's
Cemetery, Grand Island, NE.

Pehr/Peter Andersson Soderstrom was born
in Bjuraker, Sweden, on 6 Aug 1819, the son of Andres/Anders Jonsson and Margreta
(Greta) Lisa (Westerstrom) Soderstrom. Peter died on 6 Nov 1901, at Pilot
Mound, Boone Co, Iowa.
Peter served in the Civil War from 1861-1865; he established
the first school in Boone Co, Iowa.
Peter came to America in about 1858 (more to be added on this,
later).
Peter was married in Sweden to Margreta Rolen. They were the
parents of three children (listed below). They divorced in Washington Co,
Minnesota, on 12 Oct 1861. Peter remarried about 1866 to Margaret Norell.
They were the parents of four children (listed below)
