Martha A. Wright, was born August 17, 1839, in either Greene or Edmundson Co., Kentucky according to Wright family bible records found in the papers left after her younger brother, Zachariah Wright, died. She had 11 siblings. On May 13, 1858, she married George Washington Moore in Cass Co., Missouri. Their first son, Richard Henry Moore is one of my great grandfathers. Martha died in 1874 most probably in Lexington, Lafayette Co., Missouri, though I have been unable to locate a more specific date and no location for burial has been found. Family stories relate that her remains were taken to the place the Moore family resided during the Civil War years in Illinois. The family stories I've been told say George moved her and the children to Adams Co. (near Quincy), Illinois, and that she loved the beauty so that she wanted to be buried here.
Martha's parents were Richard C. Wright (born August 5, 1801, Green Co., Kentucky) and Mary Elizabeth Smith (born October 28, 1808, Culpeper Co., Virginia; the daughter of Joseph Smith and Martha Kelly). Mary had at least one sibling; a brother named Zachariah who married Sarah Pryor on October 10, 1833 in Green Co., Kentucky. Richard C. and Mary married April 4, 1824 in Green Co., Kentucky. Both died in Lafayette Co., Missouri and are buried in Arnold Cemetery in Wellington, Missouri.
Richard's parents were Richard Wright (I have numbered him II as his father's name was also Richard), born about 1777 at St. Marks Parish, Culpeper Co., Virginia, and Ann (last name unknown), who was born in Green Co., Kentucky. Richard C. must have had siblings but I have not yet located them. According to the little research I have accomplished on this family, Richard (II)'s parents were Richard (I) and Sarah and there were at least three children, John, my Richard (II), and William, who were all named in their father's will.
