He Family name was originally Maubourguet and came from the city by that name in the Gascogny region of France in what would now be called Haute-Pyrenees He came from Bourdeaux to Louisbourg and was related to the Cordeau family of Bourdeaux who also came to Louisbourg from Bourdeaux He lived in Louisbourg, Nova Scotia on 15 July 1755, on which day he was listed as having been Godfather at the baptism of Antoine Bernard Casanaue on
July 15, 1755.
