This is my first posting to the list. I am a descendant of Gen George Rutledge
- his full name is supposedly William George Rutledge. The following is from
Goodspeed's "History of Tennessee" pg 913.

"Gen George Rutledge came to the county (Sullivan Co TN) about 1777, and
located on the small stream known as White Top. About three years later, he
removed to the farm now occupied by his grandson, William G Rutledge, where he
died in 1813. He commanded a company in Col Shelby's regiment at the battle of
King's Mountain, was a member of the constituent convention of 1796 and the
Territorial Assembly, and after the organization of the State, was a member of
the Senate until his death."

Supposedly this is my Rutledge line:

Andrew Rutledge & Elizabeth Brown
William George Rutledge & Mary "Mollie" Gambol
William George Rutledge & Eleanor "Nellie" Caldwell
Nancy Ann Rutledge & Robert Cowan (documented)
Captain William Rutledge Cowan (documented)
(1) Nancy Rhodes Delaney (documented)
(2) Nancy Susong (documented)

I am related to the Cowans, Delaneys, Rhodes, and Susongs through two separate
lines, and they all come together with Capt Wm Rutledge Cowan and his two
wives.

If anyone had information on this family, please let me know. I am not sure of
anything prior to Gen George Rutledge and do not have verification of Nellie
Caldwell as his wife.

Will be glad to share and/or look-up information about the Rutledge family in
TN.
