I would like to learn more about your family... for several reasons..
First, it would be nice to see if your branch is tied to any of us in the U.S... When I see the spelling "Ruttledge" I associate it with English roots... We have a Sean Ruttledge, from England, who used to contribute quite alot to our discussions... haven't heard from him in awhile, but it might be helpful to see if we can raise him for some help... I think he has a website with Ruttledge info... I can't recall the URL of the top of my head, so I'll have to look for it...
Second, I'd like to know more if our lines connect... My wife, Carole, and I just booked a flight to Christchurch for next Feb and part of March... We're coming to visit my son, Paul, and his family. Paul is a brewer at a Christchurch pub called the "Dux." So... if you're around there, tell him I said to buy you a pint..;) When we arrive, I'll give you a call... maybe we can compare some family notes...
I'd be curious to know if your family went directly to NZ, or did they travel via the US or Canada perhaps... When I see the name Peter in the Rutledge line, I always associate it with the Maryland Rutledges...
We're having a gathering of Rutledges from the Eugene/Salem area at our house today.. I'll make sure theyv'e seen your note... I'll be anxious to hear more from you about your family..
