(II) Samuel, son of John Beebe, was baptized at Broughton, England, June 23,
1633. He came to New England and settled at New London, Connecticut, where
land was granted him December 2, 1651, and afterwards. He married (first)
Agnes, daughter of William Keeney. He married (second) Mary (Keeney) (???),
born 1642, sister of his first wife, She lived in Colchester, and was a
widow. On May 8, 1716, she conveyed to Samuel Fox, of New London, land
granted originally to William Keeney, her father. Samuel Beebe probably
moved to Plum Island and died there early in 1712, as administration was
granted on his estate, April 6, 1712, to his widow Mary and son Samuel, of
Southold, Long Island. Children: Samuel, born about 1660; Susannah, about

    Audrey,
Maybe you can answer some questions I have on Ruth Rogers and
William
   Beebe.

William Beebe born 1665 in New London Co, CT, died December 30, 1750
 in
   New
London Co, CT.  Ruth Rogers born 1678 in New London Co, CT, no dod.
  They
were married 1665 in New London Co, CT.

What I have on them is conflicting.  Were either of them married
more
  than
    once?

I have the following children for them:  Stephen, Mary, William,
  Ezekiel,
and Lydia.  No dob, dod, or place of birth/death, etc.

    Thank you,
    LuAna

I only have a Samuel Sr. and Samuel Jr. as living and dying on Plum Island,
Suffolk County, NY (Long Island). I have only traced this line to Samuel Jr.
I do not have a marriage or offspring for Jr. so cannot help in that
direction.

All the rest of Samuel Sr.'s children were born in the New London,
Connecticut region. Most died there.

Evidence leads one to believe that most Beebe lines in the U.S., were from
John Beebe, Jr.'s line. He supposedly died at sea and was buried in Hartford
CT after 18 May 1650. Most of his children, if not all, came to the U.S.
and in particular, CT.

John's father, of course, was John Sr. who was married to Alice Unknown.
John Sr.'s father was Thomas. That is as far back as I've been able to
locate information on the Beebe line.

Unfortunately, I do not have any information on any Joseph, Thomas H., John
Chester, Arthur Lee, or Thomas G. Beebe. If there is a connection to what I
have it would probably be through Samuel Jr. who was the last in my line
from Long Island.

Orient Point and Oyster Pond Reef are only 1.5 miles west of Plum Island
lighthouse on Plum Island. I doubt that there was anyone on Plum Island to
perform marriage ceremonies so they would have had to go to Orient Point or
Orient, which would have been about 5 miles from the lighthouse. Remember, 1
5 miles is water.

BEEBE is in both my maternal and paternal lines -- Drake and Davis -- they
connect at Samuel Beebe and Mary Keeney, so my paternal Drake and maternal
Davis lines are the same untill I get to their sons William and Jonathan.

I haven't verified it all so it's subject to changes, additions, or
deletions:

My Drake and Davis line the same:
...10th G-Grandparents Thomas BEEBE/BEEBY born about 1535 in Addington,
Northamptonshire, England & Elizabeth born about 1535 in England
...9th G-Grandparents John BEEBE/BEEBY born Addington, Northamptonshire,
England  & Alice born 1574 in Broughton, Northamptonshire, England
...8th G-Grandparents John BEEBE born about about 1600 Addington,
Northamptonshire, England  & Rebecca LADD born before October 30, 1602
Broughton, Northamptonshire, England
...7th G-Grandparents Samuel John BEEBE Sr born June 23, 1633 in Broughton,
Northamptonshire, England & Mary KEENEY born before June 23, 1633 in England
(Drake line continues)...6th G-Grandparents Jonathan BEEBE, Sr born August
19, 1674 in New London Co,
CT & Bridget W. BROCKWAY born January 9, 1671/72 in New London, CT
...5th Great Grandparents William BEEBE Sr born about 1700 New London Co, CT
&
Eleanor (LNU)
...4th G-Grandparents Silas BEEBE born 1728 Middlesex Co, CT & Elizabeth
EMMONS
born January 9, 1731/32 in Middlesex Co, CT
...3rd G-Grandparents Rhoda BEEBE born March 17, 1763 in Middlesex Co, CT &
David WILLIAMS Sr born February 10, 1766 in New London Co, CT
...GG-Grandparents -- Their daughter, Eliza WILLIAMS & William Augusta
DRAKE, brings me to my maiden name "DRAKE" and to my "DAVIS" connection.

My maternal BEEBE line on the DAVIS side is the same from my 7th
G-Grandparents Samuel BEEBE and Mary KEENEY on up.  Their sons, Jonathan and
William are the brothers that married into each side of my family.  Jonathan
BEEBE (my Drake side) is my 6th G-Grandfather and his brother William is my
6th Great Grand Uncle who married my 1C7xR, Ruth Rogers (my Davis side).

Anyone researching this BEEBE line?
Happy trails,
LuAna Drake Craig

Is anyone researching this BEEBE line?
My 5th Great Grandparents were William BEEBE Sr born about 1700 New London
Co, CT, died January 29, 1788 East Haddam, Middlesex Co, CT & Eleanor (LNU).
They were married about 1727.  Children born to them in
East Haddom, Middlesex Co, CT were:
Silas 1728 m. Elizabeth Emmons -- my line
Asa S. Sr b. 1730 d. December 9, 1813 in Winhall, Bennington Co, VT
Anne January 27, 1730/31
William Jr. b.1732 d. May 6, 1806 Millington, Middlesex Co, CT
Phebe about 1738
Elihu b.January 24, 1747/48 d. January 9, 1826

Frances "Fannie"

What is Eleanor's surname, dob, place of birth/death, parents?  Are these
all of their children and dates of birth and place of birth?  Who were their
spouses?

Happy trails,

SAMUEL (29), son of 9,
was born in Hadley, Mass., June 26th, 1672. He died in Litchfield, Conn.,
about 1731. He married, in Danbury, Hannah, who was born in 1672, and died
in
Canaan, Conn., November 16th, 1766. He moved from Hadley, with his father,
before 1678, and to New Milford, in 1715. He removed from New Milford to
Litchfield in 17.20, when the town was laid out. He and his wife are
recorded
in New Milford as members of the First Church, of that town. He was one of
those, designated to aid in building the "West Fort" in Litchfield in
August,
1723. He was one of three who presented a statement, dated May 24th, 1725,
concerning the petition of two men named Watson and Woodruff to the
legislature for a bounty for having shot an Indian during the preceding
summer while in the King's service, at Litchfield. He is mentioned as of
lawful age, alluding to the place "where we had the fight." He built the
first frame house that was set up in Litchfield. His son began the
settlement
of the town of Canaan, Conn. Children: Mary (69), Ebenezer (70), Samuel
(71),

Joan, you've done a pretty good job of confusing me. Here's what I have:

John, Jr. (who died on his way to America) and Rebecca Ladd Beebe had eight
children: John, III (b: 4 November 1628); Rebecca (b:11 August 1630); Samuel
(b:23 June 1633); Thomas (b:23 June 1633); Nathaniel (b:23 January 1635);
Mary (b:18 March 1637); Hannah (b:23 June 1640); and James (b:abt 1641).

Samuel and Mary Keeney Beebe had nine children: Mary (b:abt 1657); Samuel,
Jr. (b:abt 1660); Susanna (b:1663); William (b:abt 1665); Agnes (b:abt 1667)
 Nathaniel (b:abt 1669); Johnathan (b:19 August 1674); Mercy (b:abt 1678);
and Thomas (b:abt1682).

Samuel married Mary Keeney in 1660 in New London, New London Co., CT. Samuel
had a twin, Thomas.

Samuel and Mary had a son, Johnathan (b:19 August 1674) who had a son named
Johnathan (b:1693).

I have Ann, daughter of John and Alice (Unknown) Beebe, born after 1600 and
before 1622 in England. Must have stayed there. I also have Anne, daughter
of Gideon and Ruth Clark Beebe, born abt 1744.

Johnathan and Briget Brockway Beebe had a son, William, born abt 1700.
Samuel Sr. and Mary Keeney Beebe had a son, William, born abt 1665. William
Sr., and Ruth Rogers Beebe had a son, William, born abt 1684.

It appears that there was some duplications under Beebe and Beeby surnames.
I have nothing on the Beeby line. While I certainly don't have all the Beebe
line in my computer, I do have more than 190 listed. Some with information
and others with no more than a name and maybe a date of birth.

Suggestion: If you break long e-mails down into a two, three, or four
shorter ones, it makes it easier for us to digest and then try to answer.

Thanks,

George

Per Vermont Vital Records Nehemiah Reynolds of Stanstead and Rebecca
BEEBE presumably of Derby, Orleans, VT were married 2 January 1815 in
 Derby,
Vermont by N. Wright, Justice of the Peace.

I would like to know the parents of both of these individuals and

Also where is Stanstead -- the only town of that name I find is in
  Quebec and not Vermont.
My direct line includes Mary Beebe and Enoch BUCK of New Milford CT

Don, I would be very interested in any information you have regarding
 BYBEE's and/or BEEBE's.  I have both.
Mary BEEBE m. Enoch BUCK I just posted about. The Bybee's started in
Virginia and Kentucky and moved west from there. It is my understanding
that
the origin of the surname is unknown. Some speculate the original
ancestor,
William BIBBY came to Virginia from Lancashire, England, but that is not
documented, as far as I can tell.

Thanks Sharon. Be aware I have a small private database on the Beebe surname
and I intend to put it online in conjunction with my Most Wanted Rutledge
and Most Wanted Kelly databases.

As with Most Wanted, Beebe distribution will be logged in by state, and
county if possible, where dates and names can be cross searched in an effort
to track where they came from and where they went, and what places they
stopped at; including obits, marriages, land records, tax records, and other
related records provided by members of this surname, by any spelling.

I'll let you all know when it goes online.

Thanks all.

The surname BEEBE may be spelled many different ways. Keep an open  mind.
Often it was one barely literate person giving another barely  literate

Subject: Beebe

 Hi Don,

Let me introduce my self I am a descendent of William Beebe b. 1665 son
of  Samuel and Mary Keeney Beebe.

I am originally from Candor, NY which is not far from Ithaca, NY, which
is just below Cayuga Lake which is one of the Finger lakes in NY.

My line goes like this and I will be only using the male line till I get
to Cyrus Beebe then I will include the wives and some siblings.

John and Rebecca who both died about 1650.

Their son Samuel b. June 23, 1633 and his wife Mary Keeney
 Their son William b. 1665
 His son Ezekiel
 Ezekiel's son Zadock I
 Zadock I's son Zadock II
Zadock II's son Cyrus Beebe who married Rhody Chesebro. She later died
and he married her widowed sister Phoebe Palmer.

Rhody and Cyrus had two boys and a girl.  I think the daughter might have
died but the two boys, Cyrus and Judson lived.  And it is Judson that my
 line continues from.

Judson married Susan Blanding and they had I believe 3 children.
Hiram is who my line descends from.

Hiram married Ellen Amelia Hills daughter of  Chloe Clarke and James
Hills.  These families had moved from the VT area and also CT.

Hiram and Ellen Amelia had 3 children. William b. May 9, 1869 in South
Byron, NY was the oldest.  He had a sister Lela Winifred or it might have
been Winifred Lela.  She married a George Smith and lived I believe
around Long Island. They had a couple of children.

Their brother James H. Beebe named after Ellen's father James Hills
remained a bachelor and lived mostly in VT.  But he was buried in N.
 Brookfield.

William Lyman Beebe the oldest child of Hiram and Ellen is my
grandfather.  He married on Dec. 18, 1890 most likely in W. Eaton, NY the
residence of the bride May A. Payne daughter of Truman Payne and Olive
Damon Payne of W. Eaton, NY.  They had two children Susan born Aug. 20th,
1894 most likely in Earlville, NY and son Cyrus Arthur born May 6, 1898
 in Earlville.

Hiram, his wife Ellen, and their son William and his family came to
Candor, NY, Tioga Co. about June or July of 1899 to start up a news
paper.  They called it the Candor Courier.  It was passed from Hiram to
his son Will when Hiram died in 1906 and when Will died it was given to
 my father Cyrus  Arthur Beebe.

In 1952 or 3 dad sold the business because of ill health and the strain
of running a news paper was to big a job for one man.  I was about 7 at
the time so way to young to be handed a news paper to run.

I have more information if you would like it but won't send it unless you
 would like me to.

I also just found out that my husband Larry Meddaugh's grandmothers
sister  Zilphias daughter Esther Roe is also connected to the Beebe
family thru her marriage to Ralph Smith.  It seems that his mother was
Esther Kneenshaw who married Ralph's father  John Smith.  Esther is the
daughter of Fanny Pratt who married a John Kneenshaw.

Fanny is the daughter of Ezra Pratt Jr. and his wife Martha ?
Ezra Pratt Jr. is the son of Ezra Pratt Sr. and ?
Ezra Pratt Sr. is the son of Seth Pratt and his wife Abigail Tully.
And Seth is the son of Agnes Beebe and Azariah Pratt.
Agnes is the daughter of Thomas Beebe and his wife Ann Hobson.
Thomas Beebe b. about 1680 is the son of Samuel Beebe and Mary Keeney.
Which of course is  my William's  who was b. 1665.  His parents of course
are Samuel and Mary Keeney Beebe.

You also asked a question about the spelling of the Beebe name. And
wondered if Bybee was the same surname.  I believe the answer is yes.

If you want to learn more info you can contact cousin Sharon Dulcich. She
is quite the authority on Beebe's in the US.

Looking forward again to hearing from you.

 Joan Beebe Meddaugh
 A descendent of Samuel's son William b. 1665
