Hello Grace,
Indeed we are of the same line, your ggrandmother was a younger sister of my ggrandfather Benjamin Franklin McGee, you may already know that my original query regarding James W. McGee is in error, our ggrandfather was in fact William Martin McGee, I had the name wrong as I am in receipt of a letter written to my mother by our great aunt Elma Pearl McGee where she lists her parents as James W. and Ruth Ann Lockard. How she could have her own fathers name wrong is a mystery however, I have verified through a number of different sources that his name was in fact William Martin McGee. When Pearl wrote the letter, she was 94 years of age and had not been raised by either parent since she was 8 years old as they were both deceased by then so I am assuming she was confused.  Another curious thing which has impeded my search is that most of the children went by their middle names instead of first name, such as your ggrandmother Mary Violet, her sister Pearl refers to her in the lett!
er as Violet, Pearl herself has the first name of Elma and went by the name of Pearl which was her middle name. A copy of the 1880 Census lists the children as Benjamin T (my ggrandfather with an obvious error on his middle initial which should be F) your ggrandmother Mary V.,  James H. (went by middle name of Henry) Sarah F (went by middle name of Florence) Zora K (went by first name of Zora) John W. (went by middle name of Will) There is a daughter that I have no information on named Athena B and Elma Pearl was not yet born in 1880.
I have quite a bit of information and will e-mail you direct as opposed to listing it all here.
