NORTH CAROLINA / GEORGIA

From Admin:

4gmother were Patrick Stuart McGee and Mary Elizabeth Speer.

In 1812 they lived in Burke County North Carolina, near and probably
attended the same Methodist church, as the 3gfather Hiram Kelly family
(father so far unknown) who married Mary McGee in 1812 - 14.

They had four children in Burke County, then grandparents McGee and the
Kelly's around 1822 moved to Habersham County, Georgia.

Looking for where McGee and Speer were born (rumor SC), when, when married,
and whom their four parents were. Of some importance too......is Speer a
German name?

I have the book called "Lost Family, Lost Cause" about the McGee family in
Wayne Co MO during the Civil War. It was written by Ivan McKee whose
grandfather McKee married a McGee. I don't know if the book is still
available, but I will be glad to do a lookup in the book. It is about the
family of Thomas Jefferson McGee who came to what is now MO in 1810 form
Lincoln Co. NC. MO was then a territory. I have not yet tied them to my
McGee family. This book is about the atrocities done to the McGee family by
the Union Troops. It is a well documented book. Linda Crawford

I have 1.Daniel McGee married to Julia McCan in IL June 30, 1881
         2. Daniel McGee     "      "  Lulu Shelby   "  "  April 27, 1880

        1. Joseph McGee married to Nettie Brewer--IL Sept. 21, 1881
        2. Joseph  J D McGee   "     Lucy Ann Richerson,-IL  March 11, 1865

These are the ones I found on the Marriage search results for Illinois. These are also the
men married before 1889; which is the year my grandfather, Daniel J.McGee married my grandmother, Lydia Elizabeth (Wilkinson) at Marble Hill, Bollinger County, MO.
If anyone reading this knows of these individuals, might I ask you to let me know? I'm trying to eliminate the unnecessary Daniel's and Josephs from my search.

William is a much used name in my McGee line. My 2nd great grandfather was William J. McGee 1802-1872. We think he was born in North Carolina and his father was also William McGee. We believe his mother was an O'Kelly.  William  married Sarah Louisa Martin in Hardeman Co TN. They came to Dallas Co MO in the early 1850s and remained the rest of their lives and are buried in McGee Chapel Cemetery of which William gave the land for the church and cemetery. He had brothers John and O'Kelly that we know about.  John married Nancy Murphy. O'Kelly married Rosa Yates. I have worked some farther back and will do more as time permits, but have not had any luck finding William's parents. Linda Crawford
