Texas

NOTE: Old family records say Hiram Kelly had two daughters who married into the Brown Family in Madison County Arkansas. Almina/Elmina Kelly because of mis-spellings married J.D. Brown in Arkansas and later moved to Texas. Cousin Jonelle is hot on the trail of the couples children in Texas.

Here is all that I have to work with:

George was born 12/29/1856 maybe in Texas and died 10/28/1927 in Texas.
Eliza was born abt 1864 and died abt 1923 I guess in Texas.

1. David Lawrence Kelley-b. abt 1884
 2. Robert L. Kelley-b abt 1888
 3. Willie M. Kelley-b abt 1889
 4. Jessie M. Kelley-b abt 1892
 5.Anne L. Kelley-b abt 1894
 6.Oscar S. Kelley-b abt 1897
 7. Lillie L.  Kelley-b abt 1889
 8. Florence Kelley-b abt ?

Thanks again

Subject: [KELLY] Can you give dates/locations? (was - Re: George W. Kelley)

 Hi!

Regarding George W. Kelley, are you looking for his parents or further
information on his children/grandchildren.  I'm assuming you're looking
 for his
parents, yet don't want to assume anything.  On which censuses (if any)
 did you
find this George W. Kelley and his wife/children?  Which year/state, that
 is?
Did you always find him and his family in TX or are there any other states
involved?   I ask because I believe it is the 1880 (?) census that has a
 column to
indicate where the parents were born.  What does the census indicate or
 have
you not found that census (It took me years to find where my GA Kelleys
 were
in 1880.  They had been found in GA prior to that date and afterwards in
 the
1900s.  Yet finally I found them in 1880 and they were in TN!!  This was a
 great
find for me because it told me where my James Kelly's mother/father were
 born
 - Virginia!  I have nothing beyond that knowledge yet, though.)

I hope you break through your brick wall as they can be very frustrating.
Giving us all a little more information might be helpful, too, because
 some
little detail (such as dates/locations) might help us determine if we are
 part of
the same family and have the information you're looking for.

Good luck!  I, for one, look forward to hearing if it's the parents you're
looking for and some locations to help pinpoint where these Kelley's were
 in
their day.  I had some Kelly/Kelleys that started in VA, came down to NC
 and GA
and some of their descendents went up to TN and some even over to TX and
 some
all the way up to the state of Washington!  Now that bunch leaves me
 asking
myself..."what was up in Washington to make you migrate up there?"

This material is not well organized and I may have sent the census information previously. I read the links from three pages of Bell County information and I believe I located the burial place and gravestone data for Elmina (Kelly) and Joseph Brown. I plan to be in Texas to attend the FGS Conference in September, and I may be able to locate the cemetery and get photos of the gravestones. While I believe this data is Emina Kelly (daughter of Hiram KELLY and his 2nd wife Malinda) and Joseph Brown, I would feel more comfortable if I can locate additional documentation.

I saw in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram an obit for a very distinguished Raymond Boone Kelly, Jr. son of Katherine B. and Raymond B. Kelly, and father of Raymond Boone Kelly, III. Looked like family, but when I got home, I do not have a Raymond Kelly in my files. I do have a Henry Boone Kelly and a Harry Boone Kelly.

Raymond B. Jr. was born in Dallas in 1922, raised in Fort Worth, graduated from Princeton in 1943 with B.S. in engineering, commissioned ensign USN until 1946, worked in oil industry, founded several companies, longest serving mayor of Westover Hills, TX from 1974-1988. Good man.

My Kelly's came from Ireland to S.C, to VA, back to VA, then in the 1800's to Perry County, TN.  Does anyone know about this late Raymond Boone Kelly ?

Lamar County Texas and possibly in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

I'm still looking for THOMAS KELLY and PEARL OWEN
I just found their date of marriage on the rootsweb and they were married in Lamar Co. Texas( Most likely in Paris) they were married 9/11/1898
pearl was listed as an Owen and not Owens. List below is the family information.
If you have any information My new Email is [email protected]
Thank you so very much
                      Stephanie
Here is my most wanted Kelley's or Kelly
The name he went by in Oklahoma was Thomas Kelly, but his real name is supposed to be William Mandrew Thomas Kelly DOB unknown death
was 5-1947
1st wife Pearl Leoner Owen DOB 6-15-1882 to 1-1-1919 died with child.
they had three children 2 Girls Eulah, 11-5-1903 to 5-19-1977, Mable  4-30-1913 death unknown at this time. 1 son Harvey Benjamin 4-28-1910 to-15-1967
after the death of pearl, W.M.Thomas Kelley dropped one of the e's
and went to Kelly.
A story was told to the youngest son of Harvey's on Harvey's death
bed. That Thomas was running from the law in 2 states. The 1st State is
unclear he thinks it was either Alabama or Mississippi. I haven't been
able  to place him in either state. The 2nd State he supposedly ran in to trouble
was in Kentucky. Then Harvey said they went to Ark. That is were Pearl
is buried, ( so this would have been around 1919) then moved on in to Oklahoma and that is where Harvey made his home. However, W.M.Thomas Kelly
married a Thrasher and they moved on to Texas and that is where both girls lived their lives and died. If  this rings any bells let me know.

Subject: Kelley/Kelly and related Texas families

Where did they live?
Where did they go?

Well, they started out in Montgomery Co., Tx.   My g-g grandfather, John Greenberry Kelly came there from somewhere, married Sarah Sylvesta (Knowles)  in 1851 and had Tobe, Margaret and John G. there 1854, 1856, 1858 respectively.   Then they went to Atascosa-Frio Co., TX.  The father, John Greenberry Kelly was killed at one of these two counties in 1857.  The mother, Sarah S. (Knowles) Kelly remarried to Reuben Carter.  She had six more kids.

Of the three children by the first marriage, Tobe and John G. were in Atascosa-Frio Co., Dewitt and Lavaca Co., Williamson Co., San Saba Co., and all finally settled in Mills-Hamilton-San Saba-Comanche, Brown.  Their sister, Margaret married in Atascosa-Frio Co. to George Thomas and they lived in Kinney Co. (at Fort Clark, I think).  They were there in 1880.  George died and Margaret lived the rest of her life with her brother, John in Mills and San Saba Counties.

At this point, I don't have much information on the Carter kids by Sarah's second marriage.  The oldest of these, Dora Ann married a Fryer.  The Fryers were very close to the Kellys.  They followed each other all over the state.

My great grandfather, Tobe settled in Mills County, Tx.  He was married first to Georgia Ann (Crosson) in Colorado Co., TX. in 1882.  They had a daughter, Laura Mack (Kelly) Morgan.  Then he married Alice Frances "Jose" Whitten in Hamilton Co., in 1886.

John Green Kelly, brother of Tobe, married first Margaret P. Fryer and had six kids in Dewitt Co.  Apparently, she died and he married Sarah Jane Wilkins and had one child by her that I know of, Charles Ivy Kelly.  John G. and Sarah Jane settled in San Saba Co. I believe.

Is this more than you asked for?  It's becoming a story and more and more people becoming involved.

Will you please reply, if our information connects, to: [email protected]

He recently E-mailed my and shared what he had on the family.  Although many

opportunity to compare family tree data and supporting facts.  The file
George sent me, helped to highlight the need to do just such a comparison
together with the group.  I'm suggesting a running series of E-mails
comparisons to allow us to correct errors and fine missing facts and

We could begin such a review on a generation or single branch of the family

our specific lines.  I'll use the information in my family file for starters,
but I have no way the best data or facts, except where maybe where I get down
to William's son James M. T. Kelly family line.

I'll start with Lawrence Robert Kelly and Martha Smith and children and there
spouses.  Then after comparison we can go on to son, John Kelly's family and
that branch of the family tree, then later to the other children's lines.
Each time trying to keep the portions to review to a manageable size.  I
going to use Family Tree Maker family report format, to display the data.
This Rootsweb, mailing list format doesn't accommodate downloads or

In comparing data, with George's file the first question I have is what is
the exact or correct way to footnote or cite the 1940 Kelly Family History
  Publication.
  I have:
Kelly, Ralph John: KELLY 1740-1940, (Atkinson, Nebraska: December 1939).
  George has:
Elma Kelly: Kelly 1740-1940,(Edited and Printed by Ralph John Kelly,
  Atkinson, Nebraska: December 1939).

Does any one know the correct to cite the document?

Another interesting item, George has was that William's wife is Margaret
McLean is listed from NC, North Carolina.  George where did you get that
source?   We are trying to find her parents and verify the spelling of her
last name (is it McClean or McLean)?  If she is indeed from North Carolina
that might give us a better lead.

George has the date of William's death as April 14 and I have April 24.
  Which is right?

This is just a few of the points of comparison.

PLEASE, aid us in the effort to compare family files.  If you have better
sources, or different facts please advise us.

  Sincerely.

  Larry W. Kelly

I got a reply from my aunt who is in a nursing home in Texas.  She gave
me a few bits of info that I didn't have before.

My GF, Brinkley Kelly (Kelley is on my birth certificate) was born in
Arkansas.  His father & mother Joe (Joseph?) Kelly & Emma Gibson Kelly
were from ALABAMA.  They migrated to Arkansas & later on to OK.  Joe &
Emma farmed for many yrs. in Andarko, Caddo County, OK.  Emma died in
Hugo, OK (where I was born) don't have a yr.

 Hi everyone,

Well I may have made a small step forward thanks to a woman searching
DOYLE's in TX.  She introduced me to the Death Index from 1905 to like
1955.
So, now I will make a post in hopes someone might know some info.

Mary Virginia KELLY  born about 1871 in TX (Harris County?) married a
James J.  DOYLE Dec 19, 1881.  I know nothing about either one of these
people except what you see
and also she was my great-grandfathers sister. I have her listed as living
in Houston, Harris, TX as of Nov. 1922 in her fathers obituary.

I am almost positive she is the Mary Virginia K. DOYLE  listed in the TX
Death Index 1941-1945 in Harris County, TX.  If this is correct, her date
of
 death was July 6, 1944.

If anyone knows about Mary Virginia KELLY or this James J. DOYLE, her
husband
 I would appreciate your help.
