I have a cousin and a daughter-in-law named Candy, so my eyes light up
 when I see it.

I don't specifically know if we connected before, but we have now.

Have a good day and great week.

Here's to getting every Iowa cemetery on line................all of
 them.

I'm researching the following and hoped that perhaps someone may connect
or if not perhaps I may be directed to a Kelly homepage.  I've just
learned the name of my ggGrandmother from my Mom and would like to begin
a more accurate trace.  We are most interested in finding the genetic
connection from James Poe Kelly to the Edgar Allan Poe family.

James Poe Kelly married Margaret Brown in Dundee, Angus Scotland.  Dec.
27, 1825.  Among other children one son was named ?Russell, and another
named:

James Watson Kelly  married Mary Agnes Bickel Kelly, likely in PA or
more than likely West VA.   (Parkersburg) James Watson Kelly died 1928
at 63 yrs. old. (?1865) Mary Agnes Bickel Kelly was 58 yrs. old at the
time of his death. (?1860)
He died  in Loreto-dias Province, Buried in Britanico Bilbao, Spain.  He
was known as a "war engineer", or the more familiar term "Oil
Wildcatter" (A True Pioneer)

The death certificate shows he was buried in Jefferson Province USA (?
This is possible Jefferson Township PA (??)

His children were:

Helen Geraldine Kelly (Grant)
Agnes Jean Kelly (Morril)
Vera Lee Kelly (Newton)
William Russell Kelly
James Watson Kelly
Theodore Edward Kelly
Richard Harl Kelly

Helen Kelly was my Grandmother whom married Roger Alpine Grant.  His
Mother's maiden name was Jenny Gould.  Jenny was married to Allen Peter
Grant.  Jenny Goulds  maiden name was Bremner,  (her Mom being Annie)
and Annie was the daughter of Robert Bremner the founder of the Bremner
Bakery Co. in Chicago known as (Bremner Wafers) and later becoming
Nabisco.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :-)

Thank you.

----- Original Message ----- From: "John (Jack) M. Dukesbury" <[email protected] To: <[email protected] Sent: Tuesday, March 14, 2000 8:51 AM Subject: John KELLY & Catherine STANTON
The gparents named in the subject were married 8/28/1903 in St.
Patrick's RC Church (137 William St., Anderston, Glasgow) by Fr.
Alexander MacDONALD, with Michael McHUGH and Catherine MAGUIRE as
witnesses. In 1904 and 1906 two children were born also in Glasgow and
the family moved on to Buffalo NY, where a third child was born in 1907.

I have obtained extracts of marriage and birth registers and was
disappointed to see that no place of origin was identified for either
John or Catherine. Family tradition has it that they came from Leitrim
and Mayo, respectively but I recognize that tracing back to their
origins generally requires the identity of the townlands -- particularly
in the case of the second most common name in Ireland, KELLY.

John KELLY was b. 6/22/1874 and parents were listed as John KELLY,
farmer (deceased) and Susan McMORROW KELLY, while Catherine was b.
5/25/1874 and parents were Patrick STANTON, farmer (deceased) and Ann
KELLY STANTON (deceased). John was a mason's laborer and his address in
Glasgow was 73 Gairbraid St, while Catherine was a domestic servant at
 391 St. Vincent St.

There is some evidence to suggest that John was from Manor Hamilton. He
had at least three brothers -- i.e. Patrick, Thomas and James. Patrick
 (b. abt 1892) and Thomas also emigrated to Buffalo and James went to
Johannesburg S. Africa at about the same time. Patrick later moved on to
Cleveland OH, where he married Elizabeth FORD. Elizabeth was from
Drumkeerin but they had met in Buffalo. James returned to Ireland and
was last heard from circa 1940's to 1950's living in Manor Hamilton.
There were also vague rumors of family member emigration to Australia or
New Zealand but these were never verified.

Some relatives either already lived in Buffalo at the time of arrival or
followed afterword, including an Aunt Rose and Cousin Mike McMORROW.
There may also have been Clooney (Marcella?) relatives in New York City.

I have written to St. Patrick's in Glasgow to determine if there is
 further
information in their records but have no idea of their policy on or
capability to respond to such queries. I am open to other suggestions on
directories, census, etc. and would greatly appreciate some assistance
in identifying and checking available sources. U.S. sources have been
pretty well exhausted because all references to birthplace have been
 identified simply as Ireland.
