Hello
I am still looking for the parents and marriage place of Mary Kelly who married Jeremiah Blackford possibly in New Jersey 1780. I have found some new information. Jeremiah Blackford's father John Blackford Jr. died in 1786 and in his will of 1784 he named his two grandsons, sons of his deceased daughter Mary Kelly, they were Nathaniel Kelly and Blackford Kelly. They must have been youngsters at this time because the will states what would happen to their portion of his estate if either died before reaching 21 years of age or if they died and left no Legal Issue. And that an uncle was to oversee their portion etc. until they reached 21 years.
Does anyone have a Blackford Kelly or Nathaniel Kelly, from New Jersey about 1770/80 time frame???
Thanks
Nancy

To Cheryl Andrews and those interested in the Cape Cod Kelley's:
I am forwarding info on Patrick O'Kelley as searched by my father (cheryl--we had no luck sending to your email address)
Dear Cheryl, My son Scott asked me to check Harwich Vital Records for your ancestors. This is what I found today. "Jan.23, 1777 Patrick O'Kelley and Darkis Chase of Harwich were married by Solomon Freeman, Esq. " (but intentions filed Dec. 20, 1776 show her name as Dorcas).
On page 303: "Record of births of children of Patrick Killey Jr. and his wife Dorcas:" (Twelve children and their dates are listed. Among them is) "Partrick born Feb. 17, 1788." (Do you want the others?)
On pg. 231: "Mr Patrick Kelley 3d to Miss Hepsebeth Chase both of Harwich Dec. 15, 1808. Marriage solemnized by Rev. Nathan Underwood."
On pg. 170:" Int. of marriage between Mr. Patrick Kelley and Miss Betsey Nickerson of Harwich April 20, 1782." (This appears to be his second marriage).
On pg. 467: "Births of Children of Patric Kelley and his wife Hepsebeth (Chase)" (Again 12 children and their birth dates are listed. Of most interest to you may be the following) " Patrick A. born Dec. 3, 1827", "Dorcas born June 11, 1825".
That is the major findings in Harwich Town records. I did not check earlier dates in Yarmouth.
However, In book "David O'Killia and His Descendants" compiled by Eunice Kelley Randall 1962, I found the following: pg.43: "Patrick (4) O'Killey (Eleazer 3, Jeremiah 2, David 1) born Feb 20, 1723 died___ married Sept. 1, 1748 Bethia Baker, born Oct. 23, 1723. She was dau. of John and Hannah (Jones). He married 2nd, April 20, 1782 widow Betsey Nickerson. The first of the Killey family to leave Old Yarmouth was Patrick. In nearby town of Harwich he located on east side of Herring River and build a water mill and operated it as a miller for many years. " Also listed as children of Patric and Bethia was "Patrick born 1753 died Oct. 18, 1834".
THAT'S It. Or at least all the time I could afford. But I do direct you to a genealogical library which may have the above Kelley Genealogy in its possession. Secondly, I would urge you to also seek the New England Historical and Genealogical Society's "Register of April and also July of 1997. Any good geneal. library should have this. This contains the first four generations of the O'Killia-Kelley family research updated with subsequent generations to follow. Hope this helps. Just wish we could find such good sources for our search of Joseph Garfield b.1801. Regards, Bruce Garfield
P.S. Some other dates shown include David as dying Aug. 20, 1728: Eleazor as b. Mar.1696/7 and died Oct.5, 1775, and Patrick son of Eleazor as b. Feb 20, 1723.
