I am researching several families that were Quaker, and as such had excellent records kept for them by the church. Records include marriages, births, deaths, and moves from one town to another. These families migrated in a general pattern from Virginia to Ohio to Indiana to Kansas, although some were in North Carolina for a time.
HOLLOWAY: from John b. Eng abt 1686 to George, Isaac, William, and then Pleasant
STANLEY: from Thomas and Elizabeth of VA through their sons Pleasant, Zachariah, and
Joseph to John and Elizabeth (STANLEY) Stanley and to Sarah (STANLEY) Hol
MCGEE: Sarah daughter of Samuel, son of William, all of VA
related surnames: RINKER, MENDENHALL, HILTON, HAINES, LEAD/LADD, PHARO, WOOD, and FRENCH
specific places: Hanover Co, VA, Charles City Co, VA, Stafford Co, VA, Campbell Co, VA, Chesterfield, NJ, Randolph Co, IN, Henry Co, IN, Union Co, IN, Marion Co, KS, Chase Co, KS, Sumner Co, KS
The most important source for these families is the 6 volume set by William Wade Hinshaw called The Encyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy 1790 - 1930, which is now available on CD from Family Tree Maker.
