Old Lippe-Detmold  Zelda Zeuge Dubel had ancestors named Toedt(mann) who lived in Holzhausen-Externsteine and worshipped at the Evangelical Reformed (protestant) church at Horn. Archives are in nearby Detmold. Her ancestor Johann Toedt (1800-1873) married Sophia Schaefer who was the widow of Johann Christoph Brehe. In accordance with the custom of that time and location, he changed his name to Conrad Brehe. They emigrated to Franklin Co, MO about 1847. By coincidence, another Conrad E. Brehe emigrated to Gasconade Co, MO about 1843 and he was probably related to Sophia's first husband. Other relatives who retained the surname Toedt came to Illinois and Iowa. Zelda's research covers the genealogy of all these branches as known to her to the present time. Information came from the church record books in Horn and the archives in Detmold. There are 2365 names. She spent 32 years in research. For more information, please contact her at the e-mail address on the left.
