     According to family tradition, the Tripletts came from England with
     Capt. John Smith and the "105" to the Jamestown Colony (Bosworth).
     James came to VA when he was about eighteen or nineteen, having run
     away from his master, a tanner to whom he was bound. He lived for
     several years on Tygart's Valley River about two miles from the site
     of Elkins WV, after marrying Christina, then on Kelly Mountain

        According to family tradition, in 1850 James moved from Leading
        Creek, Randolph Co WV, to Logansport IN, and left there after a year
        due to chills and fever and went to Chicago IL, but not desiring the
        lake and mosquitoes moved to another locality and lived in a straw
        covered house, then finally moved to Harrison Co MO in 1856
