Emanuel DEES 1675-1722
Emanuel DEES believed to be born in Monikie,Angus,Scotland



Emanuel Dees of James City and Isle of Wight County Virginia born around
1675 died 1722, Isle of Wight Virginia.  Emanuel Had 4 sons Emanuel, John
James and William and the majority of Dees descend from him. Some of the 
descendents changed the spelling to Deese and also Deas. The majority of  
Dees/Deese live in North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Florida.  

Emanuel was transported to James City Virginia in 1696. On Oct. 29 1696
Thomas Nesham of James City was granted 2 acres of land for transporation
of four persons including Emanuel. (Va patent Book 9, pg 51).

He is mentioned in the will of William Broadrobb who in 1703 directs his
wife to dispose of the land and plantation whereon Emanuel Dees lives in
James City Co. 

Historical Southern Families by John Boddie Vol 16, 17, 18 deal with the
descendents of of Emanuel. There are 159 pages in these volumes, un-indexed. I am willing to
do lookups but please give as much information as possible. 

Page 58 of the Surry Co VA order book 1713-1718 mentions May 18 1715 suit
of Henry Lightfoot vs Emanuel Dees and p 60 July 20 1715 shows the suit
dismissed. Showing that Emanuel moved South of James River between 1703
and 1715. 


Isle of Wight Co Va Great Book p 132 shows Manll Dees order dated Nov 26th
inventory handed in April 18 1723.
