William Dyer, Jr., a cordwainer (leather worker) by vocation, was t he ol de st son of Dr. William Dyer and Mary (Taylor) Dyer... having be en bo rn in B arnstable (MA) 30 October 1690.

!MARRIAGE: On 15 April 1709 in Eastham (MA) at age 18 1/2, he was m ar ri ed to Hannah Strout, daughter of Christopher Strout of Truro(M A) by t he Re verend Samuel Treat. Hannah was the mother of all 13 of Will iam Jr. 's chil dren... 3 daughters and 10 sons. He and Hannah were admitt ed and b aptiz ed as "adults" to the church in Truro the same day, 18 Febr uary 1727 /8. (" Mayflower Descendants", Volume 9.)

!RESIDENCES: William Dyer, Jr. was of Truro as of 12 March 17 36 f or on th at date and in that place he addressed a letter to James Ot is ( of Revoluti onary War fame) in regard to a lawsuit. Evidently Otis w as Wil liam's lawye r.

!LAND: On 18 May 1737, William Dyer of Falmouth on Casco Bay, cordw ai ne r, bought of John White of Falmouth, tanner, for 45 pounds, a certa in t ra ct or parcel of land lying in the Second Parish in Falmouth and ad joi ni ng to the lands of William Elwell ..... "twenty and seven acr es of t he sa me ..... it being a part of a thirty acre lot grant ed to me (Whit e) by t he Town of Falmouth and laid out by the town commit tee. Three acr es of whi ch I have [already] sold to John Dyer in said Fal mouth."

!LAND: On 5 December 1743, William Dyer, yeoman, of Falmouth, for f if ty po unds, bought of William Elwell ten acres of land in Falmouth, " it be ing pa rt of William Elwell's homestead which lieth below the highw ay ... .. bound ed ..... by ed Dyer's land on the easterly side and then b ound ed by the hi ghway that nowis."

!LAND: In April 1743, William Dyer of Falmouth, cordwainer, bo ug ht f or 26 pounds, of Thomas Millett, twenty acres of the grant ma de to h im (Mi llett) by the Falmouth Proprietors.

!LAND: William Dyer, cordwainer, of Falmouth sold proper ty on 6 Ju ly 17 49 tohis son, Samuel Dyer of Falmouth, fisherman, for 2 00 pounds, in cluding a h ouse and 25 acres of land on "Barren Hill ... .. joining to t he land of Chr istopher Dyer's Farm he now live on" near t he road which le ads to Black Po int.

!MARRIAGE-SPOUSE: The marriage intention of William Dyer of Falm ou th to Ha nnah Hagans (Higgins) of Truro was recorded in Falmouth 26 Ju ne 1 74 9. On 26 July 1749, William Dyer of Falmouth in Casco Bay was mar ri ed to H annah Higgins of Truro by the Reverend John Avery of Truro. T wo da ys lat er they were "Dismist" to the First Church in Falmouth.(NEH GR 14:22 5) S he was Mrs. Hannah (Cole) Higgins, widow of Reuben Higgins.

On 16 January 1764, William Dyer of Falmouth conveyed land to his " lo vi ng daughter, Isabel Ficket, wife of John Ficket of Cape Elizabeth, y eom an. "

In November 1760, William Dyer was one of the petitioners to the Go ve rn or of Massachusetts Bay for a grant of a township on the northern a nd w est ern side of the Island of Mount Desert and on the mainland next a djoi ni ng the same.
