Thomas Philbrick with his wife and six children emigrated from Linconshire, England, in the ship Arabella in company with Governor Winthrop, Sir Richard Saltonstall and others. Three other ships sailed with them, The Talbot, Ambrose, and Jewel. They arrived in Massachusetts Bay on June 12, 1630 after a tempestuous voyage of seventy-six days. They attempted a settlement where Salem now is but found another place where water was plentiful so they settled there and called it Watertown. 8
