My emphasis has been on ALEXANDERS over the past few years, but my grandmama's HANCOCK clan out of the portion of old Darlington County that became Lee County, are a mystery. My grandmother's maiden name was Frances Lietha "Fannie" HANCOCK, her father William Eli HANCOCK, & her grandfather Felix HANCOCK. Please contact me if you have info on these HANCOCKS. June 1998

HARRELL - CARMICHAEL

Looking for information on the family of Elisha HARRELL who moved to Darlington Cty about 1800 to 1810. Elisha applied for revolutionary war pension in 1830 which was denied by SC legislature. Must have died shortly thereafter since he isn't in 1840 Census. Elisha's son Hardy's wife was Sarah _____. One source says Sarah McDUFFIE but I can't find it. Grandson Elisha married a Katherine CARMICHAEL. They're in the 1850 Census. She was born about 1816 in Dillon SC. Elisha moved to NC and married an Elizabeth BAXLEY in 1866. I assume Katherine must have died but one source says she moved with her father Neil CARMICHAEL to Texas in 1857. I can't find any record of that, however. Would appreciate any information on the HARRELL and CARMICHAEL families between 1800 and 1860. Dec 1996
