Welcome to the Hazlett Repository. We (the Hazlett Web team)started this web site so all Hazletts would have one central point to post their Hazlett genealogy and history. We will post your GEDCOMs, census records, deeds, wills, Bible records, old letters, old photos and anything else that can help us in the search of our ancestors. We hope that all of you will help by sending your Hazlett history and family lines to us.

*Biography of Elizabeth II (Betsy) Hazlitt*
	*Elizabeth II (Betsy) Hazlitt was born in Ireland in 1814, the eldest child of Joseph II Hazlitt and Eleanor Carson. She was raised in Canada and married John Carrington in Picton, Ontario.* This is the "Aunt Betsy Carrington" about whom we have heard stories. She was considered to be a wondrously wise woman with the mind of a lawyer. People would drive for miles to her home to consult with her on matters requiring legal advice. When word was received that there was a sizeable inheritance in Ireland for the Hazlitts, she was the one that the relatives in Ontario chose to send to Ireland to represent them and place their claim. Quoted below is part of a letter from Grace Willis Lafferty - one of the Hazlitt descendants of Topeka, Kansas. "Of course you know about the estate in Ireland and how Aunt Betsy Carrington went over there and managed to get hold of it and came back to Canada and built or bought a big lumber yard. She became very wealthy. All of the Hazlitts for generations were to receive so much every month from the estate. There was no one to look after our interests so we didn't get any of it. I remember your grandma (Mary Elizabeth Hazlitt) telling how Aunty Betsy was so keyed up all the time, making money that she shouldn't sit down to the table, but would walk around while eating her meal."
