1C. A. Bryant, Another Man's Life.
" Known as C.A. Bert Bryant. His memoirs, "Another Man's Life", a
manuscript held at the Alaska State Library, Juneau, describes his
boyhood in Minnesota, travels to Montana with cousin Jake Rogers, and
his life in Alaska.
Left home (the farm at Anoka MN) fall of 1881, started his travels
in the west. Bought a Squatters Right near Kalispell (Flathead) MT on the
"Old Road to Columbia Falls" and in 1892 expanded the cabin so it would
accomodate his parents and 19 year old brother Andy who moved in that
year. They moved back to MN the following year. Brother Andy and uncle
Calvin returned in 1895. Joe Rogers came out from NE in 1895, worked
on Bert's farm. By 1902, his parents were at the Flathead farm with Andy.
Went to Eagle, Alaska in 1899 as a packer for the Army. His life and
adventures there are told in his memoirs.".
