"10. William Bradford (William, Robert, Peter, ? Robert), of Austerfield, co. York, was buried at Austerfield 15 July 1591. He married at Austerfield, 21 June 1584, ALICE HANSON, baptized at Austerfield 8 Dec. 1562, daughter of John and Margaret (Gressam) Hanson.* She married secondly, at Austerfield, 23 Sept. 1693, Robert Briggs, to whom she bore two children, Agnes, baptized at Austerfield 22 Sept. 1594, baptized there 8 May 1597. Alice, wife of Robert Briggs, was buried at Austerfield 23 May 1597; and her husband, as Robt Brigges the Elder, was buried there 16 Aug. 1629.†
William Bradford was mentioned in the will of his half uncle, Robert Bradforthe of Wellingley, dated 19 Apr. 1578 (Will No. 12).

i. MARGARET, bapt. 8 Mar. 1585/6; bur. 9 Mar. 1585/6.
ii. ALICE, bapt. 30 Nov. 1587; bur. 30 Jan. 1607/8.
iii. William, bapt. 19 Mar. 1589/90. He was the well-known passenger in the Mayflower in 1620, historian of the Plymouth Colony in New England, and for many years its Governor.".

"(I) William Bradford, grandfather of Governor William Bradford, lived at Austerfield (Osterfeldt), county Nottingham, England, and in 1575 he and John Hanson were the only subsidiaries there. Bradford was taxed twenty shillings on land; Hanson the same amount on goods. His grandson William (governor) lived with him after the death of William, his son. The date of his burial at Austerfield was january 10, 1595-96. Children: 1. William, mentioned below. 2. Thomas, had a daughter Margaret, baptized March 9, 1578, at Austerfield. 3. Robert, baptized at Austerfield, June 25, 1561, married, January 31, 1585, Alice Waingate; with him Governor Bradford lived after his grandfather died; in 1598 Robert was the only subsidiary at Austerfield; his will was dated April 15, 1609, and he was buried April 23 following; children: Robert, Mary, Elizabeth and Margaret. 4. Elizabeth, baptized July 16, 1570, married, January 20, 1595, -------.".
