"William C. Sauter
William C. Sauter, 75, of 210 Davis street, died Saturday at his home after being in poor health for some time. The son of Conrad and Anna (Stotz) Sauter, he was born in Greenfield on April 8, 1870.
Sauter was employed at the Wiley Russell plant of the GTD for 55 years until he retired in 1933 due to ill health. He was a foreman of the grinding department of the plant, and was a charter member of the Old Guard. He was also a member of the Herman Sons and Harugarl.
He was married to the former Mary Fritz in Greenfield in March 1892. The wedding was performed by Rev. E. G. J. Richter of the Lutheran church, and the couple lived here all their married lives. They made their home on Deerfield street for 47 years.
Sauter was honored as a 50-year member of the Sedan lodge of Harugarl in May of 1942. He joined the local lodge on April 7, 1892.
Bedides his widow, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Anna Powers of 210 Davis street, two grandchildren, a brother, Martin, of 12 Conway street, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Pluff of 14 Prospect street.
Funeral services will be from his home, Tuesday at 2 p. m. Rev. C. F. Boehner, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church, will officiate and burial will be in Green River cemetery. The C. F. McCarthy funeral home is in charge of arrangements.".
