"IV. RICHARD LORD, Esq. (63), born at Lyme, Conn., about 1690, the eldest son of Lieut. Richard Lord the first of Lyme, and Elizabeth Hyde (9), was a grandson of Samuel Hyde (2) the first, and Jane Lee, of Norwich. He m. 11 July, 1720, Elizabeth Lynde, b. 2 Dec., 1694, daughter of Nathaniel Lynde and Susanna Willoughby of Saybrook.
[Nathaniel Lynde, b. 22 Nov., 1659, who m. 1688, Susannah Willoughby, b. 19 Aug., 1664, daughter of Dep. Gov. Francis Willoughby of Charlestown, was a son of Simon Lynde of Boston, and Hannah Newgate. (see 3 Sav., 136.]
He was a wealthy land holder, and an influential citizen of Lyme, was a commissioner of the peace, and a judge of the quorum for the county. He died at Lyme 20 Aug., 1776, aged 86. His wife d. 22 June, 1778, in the 86 year of her age. Both of them are buried in the lower cemetery at old Lyme.
