"6. MOSES3 (John,2 Richard1), born about 1690, resided upon the family homestead in York throughout his life. He is variously styled gentleman, yeoman and mariner in legal documents and Lieutenant of Colonel Thomas Westbrook's Company 1722-5, detailed to range the district of Maine from the Kennebec to the Penobscot to prosecute "the Eastern Indians for their many breaches of covenant." [Mass. Arch. xci. 136-8.] He married, 1712, Ruth, daughter of Elias and Magdalen (Hilton) Weare, who was b. January 6, 1696-7 [York Deeds, xiii. 142] and who survived him as late as 1763. [Mass. Arch. lxxx. 291.] His will, dated March 12, 1749, was probated November 23, 1750. [York Probate, viii. 77.] He had, by wife Ruth, the following children:
