"1. JOSHUA2 BROOKS (Thomas1) was born about 1630. on 17 Oct. 1653 he married at Watertown, Hannah Mason, born there 23 Sept. 1636, daughter of Capt. Hugh and Grace (Wells) Mason. It is supposed that he learned his trade of tanner from Captain Mason, and, soon after, married his daughter who was just seventeen.

Therefore, Joshua died sometime in 1696 or 1697. Hannah's death is unrecorded (ibid. 10:438, 494, 533; 12:71; 14:353).

They were undoubtedly members of the Dorchester group which sailed in Dec. 1695 to found a colony and carry the Gospel to the Carolinas, but returned to Concord.
ix. Job, b. 26 July 1675, d. unm. 18 May 1697. The settlement of his estate indicates he was farming his own land; that there were medical bills indicates he died of some illness.
x. Hugh, b. 1 Jan. 1677/8.
