"(III) Isaac (1), eighth child and fifth son of Ferdinando and Huldah (Hayward) Thayer, was born in Mendon, where he passed his life as a farmer, upon land given him by his father. He married (first) first day, second mnth, 1691 or 1692, Mercy Ward, who died December 18, 1700. His second wife, whom he married in 1703, was Mary, who died in 1830. The four children by the first wife were: Mercy, Isaac, Ebenezer and Comfort; by the second wife: Mary, John, Nathaniel, Moses, Samuel, Joseph and Ichabod.".
