"2. RICHARD2 GODFREY (Richard1) was born at Taunton about 1651. He died there on 14 August 1725 aged 74 years, and was buried in the Sumner Streer (Neck of Land) Burying Ground.[23] he married at Taunton 1 January 1679/80. MARY RICHMOND,[24] born at Bridgewater, Massachusetts, 2 June 1654,[25] died at Taunton 5 November 1732 in her 78th year and was buried with her husband,[26] daughter of John2 (John1) Richmond and his first wife, Susannah Hayward.[27]

(2) before 24 March 1731/2 Susannah _____ as on that date David Gashit and wife Susannah conveyed land in Taunton to James Perrigo, and on May 19 1733 David Gashit, shipwright, and Susannah sold fifteen acres to Richard Godfrey.[36] Spelled in various ways, the surname Gashit evolved into "Gushee" among some descendants.[37]

Freetown, Mass., 23 Sept. 1694,[61] daughter of William and Abigail (Tisdale) Makepeace of Taunton.[62] Joseph Godfrey was of Norton when he m. (2) there 28 Dec. 1748 HANNAH (HEWETT) WHITE of Easton, Mass.,[63] born Newbury, Mass., 23 Sept. 1699, daughter of Ephraim and Katherine/Keturn/Ketura (Acres) Hewett, and widow of Edward White.[64] Joseph's will, dated 11 Dec. 1750. proved 3 jan. 1750/1[65] named, besides wife Hannah, cousins [i.e., nephews] David Gaschet and William Makepeace, brothers Richard and John Godfrey, brother-in-law Thomas Makepeace, and four sisters-in-law, Mary Gould, Deborah Gurley, Remember Porter, and Priscilla Aldridge. The latter four were to have only the part "that come by my former wife Susanah.".".

"(III) Ezekiel Jewett, son of Maximilian Jewett (20 was born in Rowley, Massachusetts, March 5, 1643-4. He was chose to succeed his father as deacon of the church at Rowley and ordained there October 24, 1686. he married, February 26, 1663-4, Faith Parrat, daughter of Francis Parrat. She died October 15, 1715, in her sevety-fourth year. He married (second), October 23, 1716, Elizabeth Jewett, widow of John Jewett. Ezekiel died September 2, 1723, in his eighty-first year. His will was dated February 16, 1722-3, and was proved November 4, 1723. He left land at Boxford to his sons Ezekiel and Thomas; in Bradford to his son Francis. His widow married (fourth), December 2, 1723, Ensign Andrew Stickney, son of William Stickney.
The children of Ezekiel and Faith Jewett were: Francis, born March 15, 1664-5, married Sarah Hardy; Thomas, born September 20, baptized October 28, 1666, married Hannah Swan; Ezekiel, Jr., born July 24, baptized September 6, 1668, died young; Ezekiel, Jr., born October 25, 1669, was in the expedition against Canada in 1690; settled at Boxford and had a large family there; married Martha -----; Maximilian, born February 5, baptized October 11, 1671-2, married Sarah -----; Ann, born September 29, 1673, died September 11, 1689; Sarah, born November 24, 1675, married, January 30, 1707-8, Jonathan Bailey; Elizabeth, born March 29, 1678, married, November 30, 1704, Isaac Platts; married (second), June 6, 1716, Francis Nelson; Nathaniel, born February 12, 1681, married Mary Gage; Stephen, born February 23, 1682-3, married Priscilla Jewett.".
