"178. DANIEL1 BREWER of Roxbury who came on the Lion, with wife Joanna and children Daniel, Anne and Joanna, arriving at Boston, 16 Sept. 1632, d. early March 1646, will dated 12 Jan. 1645/6. Savage, Barlett and Hook all thought this Daniel the most probable father of Hannah (Brewer) Chandler (#89). If we assume that the said Hannah was not identical with the Anne who came over the sea and is stated by both Savage and Pope to have d. 1659 at Roxbury, we may suppose that Hannah was an unrecorded daughter of Daniel and Joanna. The printed Roxbury VR identify the Anna who d. at Roxbury, 12 March 1658/9 as the widow, Anna Bruer, but if this be right, then we do not know whose widow she was, and both Savage and Pope appear to think the record calls her Anna, daughter of Widow Bruer, which is reasonable though it involves these worthies in inconsistent statements.".
