"JOSEPH ELY, called Deacon Joseph, son of Samuel, (No. 2), was born in Springfield, Mass., August 20, 1663, and died in West Springfield, April 29, 1755. MARY RILEY, his wife, was the daughter of John Riley, who located in that part of West Springfield called Ireland Parish, in the south part of the present city of Holyoke, near "Riley Brook." She was born June 2, 1665, and died May 19, 1736.
