"[83] JONAH STRICKLAND was born February 2, 1685/6, in Glastonbury, a son of John and Esther (Smith) Strickland [#60]. On November 21, 1711, Jonah married MARTHA HUBBARD, who was born January 3, 1692/3. In Middletown, a daughter of Richard and Martha (Cornwell) Hubbard [#70].
They were admitted into the communion of the Middletown First Church February 1, 1712/3. Records of Middletown First Church called Jonah Strickland (or Strictland) a "covenanter" April 18, 1712, and "came from another place but subjected himself to the discipline of this church." He lived in Chatham until his death in July 1777. Jonah and Martha (Hubbard) Strickland had seven children, including daughter Esther [#97].".
