"Proof of the marriage of Thomas Hyatt and Mary St. John and a proof of parentage of Mary comes from a land deed. "Matthias St. John recordeth and passeth over from him selfe his heires and assignes unto Thos Hyatt his heires and assignes for ever five pounds of his estate of commonage lying within the boundes of Norwalk with all the privileges and immunities belonging their unto belonging for the future and that out of that commonage that is not granted out in particular or taken up by the said Matthias"13 The deed is Recorded the 6th of December anno domini 1678 and acknowledged by Matthias St. John, father of Mary (St. John) Hyatt.".
