"TIMOTHY JOHNSON, born about 1644, died in Andover, Mass., 15 March 1687/8; married there, 15 Dec. 1674, REBECCA ASLEBEE, born there 6 May 1652, died between 26 March 1705 and 17 June 1728, daughter of John and Rebecca (Ayer) Aslebee. (See preceding article on "The Aslebees of Andover, Mass.")
On 26 Mar. 1661, Timothy Johnson, aged about 17 years, deposed in Essex County Court that he was then living with Joseph Quelters of Ipswich. Four years later, on 18 Feb. 1664/5, Timothy served on a coroner's jury with other Andover men, including John Johnson and John Frie. [Essex Co. Quarterly Court Records, 2:275; 3:227] It is therefore presumed that he came to Andover between those two dates.
John Johnson Sr., born in England about 1609, came to Massachusetts in 1635 with his wife Susanna and several small children. He settled first in Ipswich but moved to Andover before 1659. Rev. William W. Johnson, in the Johnson Genealogy, Records of the Descendants of John Johnson of Ipswich and Andover, Mass., 1635-1892, offers proof that Sgt. Thomas Johnson of Andover was a son of this John and surmises that "Stephen, Timothy and William were younger brothers of Thomas in the order named and that they had several sisters who were married in Andover" [p. 14].
