Listen to the Gaelic pronunciation! Their motto is: "Boar's Rock". The Boar's Rock is also known as the Manse Rock and is a large rocky hill sacred to the MacLarens. Balquhidder is a Highland glen where MacGregors, MacLarens, Stewarts, and Fergusons engaged in bloody feuds. The view from atop Boar's Rock may be the best in Scotland. The mausoleum of the MacLaren chiefs is set in a grove of rowan trees off the glen road to Balquhidder (pronounced 'Balwhidder'). By the way, In 1736 Rob Roy's son Robin, at age 19, shot and killed John MacLaren, our chieftain, from behind! Anyone planning to travel to Scotland and wanting to see where the LAWSON family might have originated should buy "THE BRITISH HERITAGE magazine, February 1997 issue, page 46, on "Balquihidder, Rob Rob Country.
