Samuel D. Rabinovitch

Samuel D Rabinovitch, 94 a lifelong resident of Norwich, died Saturday,
April 27, at the Norwichtown Health and Rehab Center.

He was born March 26, 1908, in Norwich, the son of the late Israel and
Lena (Drelinger) Rabinovitch.

He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, and was overseas for 24 months.

Mr. Rabinovitch was educated in local schools, and graduated from NFA.

He worked for the Star Men's retail clothing store in Norwich from 1925
until his retirement in 1978, even though not academically earned, those
who respected his knowledge of style and dress awarded him a Ph.D. degree,
standing for 'philosophy of dress'.

Mr. Rabinovitch was a member of the Beth Jacob Synagogue, the Veterans of
Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the AARP. He was a life member of
the Elks Lodge. He was an avid gardener and golfer.

In addition to his siter Helen Guss Slosberg, he is also survived by three
nieces; Nancy Matles, Amy Hsu, and Janice Ambrose; a nephew, Peter Guss;
3 grand nieces; 4 grand nephews; a devoted nurse, June, and her husband
James Glaude; and dear friends, Harriet Benoit, Frieda and Delor Mossey,
Maureen and Ricrhad Carignan, Marie Mercier, and Mary Wlodkowski.

A graveside sevice will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, at the
First Hebrew Burial Society, Route 12, in Preston. Church and Allen Funeral
Home is in charge of the arrangements.
