26 Crystal Lane, Mansfield, CT

Brief Overview

From the 1963 Survey:
"Shown on 1869 map as owned by S. C. Gardiner [i.e. Gardner]. This property is no longer occupied by the owners. The 'big house' and both smaller houses are occupied by tenants. All three houses need repairs badly.
The property is located on Rte. 32, at the top of a long drive from the highway. It is a beautiful location, and in its heyday, must have been a real showplace. It is now called Crystal Spring Farm."
From the Society's Old Houses Computer Database:
"1498 Stafford Road 1823 ca. ... Tax address also listed as 26 Crystal Lane; 2 smaller houses on the property destroyed after 1966; photographed 1963.
Big house now restored to 4 condos/apts. 1805 date also occurs ... 'Crystal Spring Farm'"

Date/Style

The title history shows buildings on this property as early as 1805. Further research is needed to determine the architectural style.
