"Shown on 1869 map as owned by S. C. Gardiner [i.e. Gardner]. This property is no longer occupied by the owners. The 'big house' and both smaller houses are occupied by tenants. All three houses need repairs badly.
The property is located on Rte. 32, at the top of a long drive from the highway. It is a beautiful location, and in its heyday, must have been a real showplace. It is now called Crystal Spring Farm."
"1498 Stafford Road 1823 ca. ... Tax address also listed as 26 Crystal Lane; 2 smaller houses on the property destroyed after 1966; photographed 1963.
Big house now restored to 4 condos/apts. 1805 date also occurs ... 'Crystal Spring Farm'"
The title history shows buildings on this property as early as 1805. Further research is needed to determine the architectural style.
* Town assessor's office: 26 Crystal Lane is four units and not associated with any acreage.
* The house is located between Chuck's Steakhouse and Margarita Grill Mexican Cantina (which uses
1498 Stafford Road as its address) and Crystal Spring Condominiums.
In 1963 the Society made a survey of old houses. The form for this house includes architectural data and a title history back to 1805.
