| The Griswold
Historical Society consists of a group of people dedicated to promoting interest in our
heritage and the historical development of the town of Griswold. We want to
share knowledge of the town's history with its residents and others who may be
interested because of historical or genealogical connections. We also want to
identify and preserve points of historical significance within the town and to
promote the observance of historical events that were important to the development of the
town.

The Society was founded in 1971. Some of our accomplishments include:
The participation in the American Revolution Bicentennial celebration 1976-1981.
Reprinted Griswold-A History by Daniel L. Phillips for the 3rd time.
Published three pictorial calendars.
Identified historical sites for the Quinebaug-Shetucket Rivers National Heritage Corridor.
Involved in establishing the village of Glasgo as a site on the Connecticut Freedom Trail.
Produced a book, Griswold in the 20th Century by Erwin Goldstein, Ted Cyr, and
Jacqueline Gelinas.
Established a Museum on the second floor of the Slater Library in Jewett City.
