In open Freemans Meeting that several persons hereafter named took the Oath for Freemen of this State according to law passed at the General Assembly held at Hartford in May Last." I am trying to obtain the marriage date of Hannah BALDWIN and Thomas RUSSELL, Hannah's parents Ebenezer BALDWIN and Ruth SWIFT were married in Mansfield on 12 Nov 1762. Their first child Thomas Baldwin RUSSELL was born in Westhampton, Suffolk, (Long Island) NY on 14 Feb 1789. I have not information as to where and when Thomas RUSSELL was born. He was a Minister in Westhampton and then became the first settled Minister in Bethel, Windsor, Vermont. And then he disappeared. Thank you for your help in the search.

Searching for the parents of Ephraim CHAMBERLAIN/CHAMBERLIN & Marcy/Mercy CHAMBERLAIN/CHAMBERLIN. Census data indicates Ephraim was born abt. 1792 in Conn. Grave stone markings of two of his sons state they were born in Wellington, Tolland, Conn. Ephraim wed Betsy DIMMOCK, dau. of Jeduthan & Marcy/Mercy (CHAMBERLAIN) DIMMOCK. Family tradition is that Ephraim & Betsy (DIMMOCK) CHAMBERLAIN were first cousins - probably thru her mother.

All of Ephraim & Betsy (DIMMOCK) CHAMBERLAIN children were born in Tolland:

1. Maria, born 5 Aug 1813, wed Charles THOMPSON, 15 Oct 1837;
2. Dimmick, born 11 June 1815, wed Elizabeth A. JOHNSON in Wellington or Mansfield, 13 Nov 1846
3. Martha Ann, born 5 Mar 1817 - died 25 Oct 1848 in Wellington or Mansfield.
4. Caroline, born 5 Mar 1819.
5. Dwight, born 5 Nov 1822 in Wellington, wed Sally R. FERGUSON in Tolland, Conn., died 15 January 1870 in Plainfield, Waushara Co., Wisconsin.
6. Rufus, born 5 Oct 1826, wed Mary A. ______ in Tolland abt. 1849
7. John W., born 17 Dec 1839 in Mansfield, Conn., removed with his parents to Jackson Twp., Tioga Co., PA in 1850,  wed Sylvia A. SMITH, 10 Oct 1858 in Plainfield, Waushara Co., Wisconsin.

I am looking for information on the parents of Nancy BACON, who was born in Mansfield in 1807. I do not know her parent's name. She married David Janes in Lima, Livingston, NY. He was the son of Benjamin Janes, born 1772 and Zebiah Huntington, born March 1774. They were married in 1797 in Mansfield. David and Nancy eventually moved to Homer, Calhoun Co., Michigan, and are buried there.

I know there was a large BACON family, but cannot establish Nancy's place in it without the name of her father or mother. Nancy and David are my great, great, great grandparents. Thank you very much for any help you can give me.

I believe the land they owned in 1719 was along the Willimantic River, but wondered if there were any old maps to show the actual location of the house(s). I suspect the house at the intersection of Ripley Hill Road and Brigham Street may have been the original homestead. I'd also like to know which BRIGHAM founded the Willington Glass Factory. I suspect that Robert may have been the brother, or father, of a David TURNER, born about 1744, and/or a Nathan TURNER, born about the same time, both of whom ended up, along with Robert, in Norwich, Vermont in the late 1700s

I am interested in the descendants of Zebulon CROSS and Sarah HARTSHORN, m 3 Dec 1761, in Mansfield, Tolland, Conneticut. My ancestor, one Zebulon CROSS was born abt 1769 and married Keziah (surname unknown). The LDS on-line records list this Zebulon from Mansfield as the closest marriage date to have fathered my ancestor. I wonder if Zebulon and Mary may have had him as a son based on marriage date. My ancestor Zebulon has at least three children: Holdy or Huldy abt 1796, Asa abt 1798 and Sarah 1803-06 (all born in the US). The family appears in Ontario Canada by 1816 when my ggggrandfather, Elias is born, and appear on a census for Brighton Ontario in 1851. It's here that Zebulon lists his age as 82, born in the US (and the approx b date of 1769 from that info). Hoping someone knows of this family and the connection I'm looking for.

Elisha PARKER came from Barnstable, MA, and his father, said to be Joseph PARKER, died in Mansfield 25 Aug 1741. John and Eliab PARKER moved to Waterbury, CT, by the 1750's and were on opposite sides in the Revolutionary War. Would like to exchange further information on this family or learn more of their Mansfield history.

This is my most elusive ancestor to date. Can anyone help me with the parentage for Sarah Maria DIMOCK/DIMMOCK?

Sarah Maria DIMMOCK born  4 or 24 Oct 1828. She married Enoch C. COLEMAN in Mansfield 26 Jan 1851, "both of Mansfield," by Nahum TAITON. On the marriage certificate it says that she was born in Willington. Willington has no record of her. Sarah died in Brookfield, Mass., 20 Apr 1886. On her death certificate it just states only that her parents were Mr. & Mrs. DIMMOCK. I find her in 1850 living with Gardner and Julia REYNOLDS in the Eagle Section of Mansfield.
