Royal Sappers and Miners
The engineering corps of the British Army,
smaller units (usually company size) were assigned to most infantry units.
They provided construction skills and manpower in the erection of fortifications,
bridges, trenchwork etc. Despite their wide dispersal, their records are
kept together regardless of assignment
